Recently re-uploaded to our YouTube Channel is a conversation Wassim had with Prof. Christian Seberino of Let’s Talk ETC podcast, following his appearance at the 2018 Ethereum Classic Summit. Among the topics covered were Wassim’s background, Forkonomy as an analytical lens to understand possible futures of blockchain-archtected networks and the Reaching Everyone initative to widen access to cryptocurrencies with particular emphasis on the economically and politically disadvantaged.
Wassim will be delivering a new talk entitled “The Secret Lives of Cryptocurrencies” at Genesis Block Hong Kong on Thursday 20th December. Do register your attendance if you’re coming at the link below.
Going to give a lunchtime talk at @genesisblockhk on the 20th, do come along if you’re in town. Let’s see if I can make it as sordid & salacious as the title suggests! 😇

Next event: Wednesday 28th March 6-8pm, Crypto-Asset Portfolios Seminar
Wassim and the D-Soc collective will be hosting a seminar exploring the construction of crypto-asset portfolios. Though the principles of risk and return are consistent with legacy finance, as an immature asset class cryptographic tokens do not yet possess an ecosystem of financial products designed for exposure to a weighted basket of assets for retail and institutional investors. A handful of informal indices exist but without consensus on network valuation metrics the decision on which tokens to include and in what weighting is not straightforward. We apply existing and novel approaches to portfolio construction and discuss the latest results from our intramural virtual portfolio contest.

The next Decentralised Society event is upcoming in Glasgow. Pllel’s Wassim Alsindi will be presenting and participating in a Q&A session.
Monday 29th January 6pm, Crypto-Economics Seminar
A seminar on the emerging field of Crypto-Economics. In their short history, it has become evident that the financial dynamics of natively digital tokens such as Bitcoin and Ethereum are rather different to existing asset classes.
Since crypto-assets exhibit attributes of commodities, protocols, currencies and payment systems, some alternative theories by which these networks can be appraised of value will be discussed. Other novel concepts and key differences between security and token macroeconomics will be examined such as issuance mechanisms, supply schedules, governance, cyclicality and multiple units of account.
